Learning to Lament

A six-week group program that helps participants discover biblical lament and learn how to practice it. Through structured sessions combining teaching and practice, participants learn to connect their heads and hearts, their faith and bodies, their fears and hopes. The program explores how approximately 35-40% of the psalms model honest crying out to God during tough times, providing patterns that can bring relief and hope in suffering. A personal devotional guide featuring 20 psalms of lament with daily reflections and prayer prompts. This resource helps individuals pray through biblical laments over the course of a month, learning the typical pattern of lament: calling out to God, expressing complaint, reviewing God's past help, requesting help, and praising God. This program for groups or individuals teaches a six-step process: Pause, Feel, Reflect, Investigate, Organize, and Decide. Participants learn to assess their confidence levels, acknowledge uncertainties, seek wisdom from God and diverse sources, and make decisions that honor both truth and love.
